Genital Warts and Treatments

What are Genital Warts?

Genital warts are caused by strains 6 and 11 of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), which are responsible for the formation of warts in moist areas of the body including the genitals, mouth, and nasal passages.

Genital warts are spread through sexual contact with someone who has HPV, and while they are not painful and are fought off naturally by the body’s immune system, in some cases they require treatment.
