Considering Laser and Light Treatments?

What You Need to Know About the HALO® Hybrid Fractional Laser and BroadBand Light Treatments

Want to experience clearer, more youthful-looking skin? Laser and light treatments for skin rejuvenation are medical aesthetic services that invigorate the skin for noticeable results.

Optima Dermatology offers both laser and light treatment options, including the HALO® Hybrid Fractional laser and Forever Young BroadBand Light (BBL™). Each treatment option has a specific purpose, and your expert medical aesthetics provider will work with you to determine the best treatment for your skin issue.

Here’s what you need to know about these popular laser and light treatments for skin rejuvenation.

How Does the HALO® Hybrid Fractional Laser Work and What Does it Treat?

A HALO®  laser applies different wavelengths of energy to the skin to target both the top layer and deeper tissues underneath. This fractional laser simply breaks down the energy into many smaller beams, allowing for highly targeted treatment that leaves surrounding skin unaffected.

This type of targeted laser therapy means fewer treatments and faster recovery.

HALO® laser therapy is ideal for treating:

  • Sun damage and hyperpigmentation to skin
  • Skin texture issues
  • Visible discoloration on the face and neck/neckline, arms, hands, or legs
  • Enlarged pores
  • Fine lines and wrinkles

How Does BroadBand Light Therapy Work and What Does it Treat?

BroadBand (BBL™) light is an intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy that sends light energy into the skin to trigger a wound-healing response, which prompts the skin to produce new skin cells and collagen.

A BBL™ treatment can be performed anywhere on the body with virtually no downtime and results in healthier, more vibrant skin. BBL™ therapy is ideal for treating:

  • Active acne
  • Age spots
  • Sun damage
  • Freckles
  • Redness, Rosacea, or flushing
  • Small facial vessels
  • Skin laxity
  • Unwanted hair

How Fast is Recovery After a Laser or Light Skin Treatment?

For the most common laser and light treatments, downtime is about 24-48 hours, during which most patients experience minimal redness and a sunburn sensation at the treatment site.

More aggressive (but impressive!) treatments may cause redness or slight skin peeling for up to 7 days. In all cases following treatment, your board-certified dermatologist will ensure you understand how to care for your skin during the healing process.

Most patients can return to normal activities immediately following treatment, including the application of makeup. However, your amount of downtime depends entirely on the type of laser or light treatment you received, so be sure to follow your provider’s guidance.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser and Light Treatments for Skin Rejuvenation?

If you have a skin condition such as sun damage, rosacea, skin texture issues, or unwanted hair, laser and light treatments are likely a good option to minimize or eliminate these issues.

However, laser and light treatments are not always the solution, or the first treatment to try. It’s best to schedule an appointment with a provider to learn more about what laser and light therapies can do for you.
