BBL Photofacial Treatment

What You Need to Know About BBL Treatment

BroadBand Light, or BBL, treatment is an intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy used to address a variety of skin conditions, primarily on the face, neck, hands, and chest. BBL treatment is safe, gentle, and highly effective.

BBL treatment typically requires two to three treatments depending on your specific needs, but results can usually be seen after one or two sessions.

What to Expect From a BBL Photofacial Treatment

BroadBand Light treatments are helpful for treating skin conditions such as rosacea, acne, sun spots, brown spots, fine lines, wrinkles, spider veins, visible blood vessels, and improvements to skin tone and texture.

The BBL device emits photothermal energy, which is absorbed by the melanin in the skin (brown pigment) and the hemoglobin in blood vessels that contribute to redness.

  • BBL treatment is the most powerful version of intense pulsed light treatment available today.
  • Treatments last about 30 minutes.
  • The combination of heat and light destroys pigmented skin cells and closes off superficial blood cells.
  • Brown spots will come to the surface of the skin and gradually flake off on their own.
  • New cells are generated as a result of the treatment, allowing for new collagen production to rejuvenate skin.
  • There is virtually no downtime from treatment.

Should I Consider a BBL Treatment?

BBL photofacial treatment is a great option for patients who have not had a facial treatment before because it’s comfortable, easy, and has no downtime. After treatment, patients report feeling like they have a sunburn, and most are able to return to work or regular activities immediately.

The treatment is safe, effective, and noninvasive, and works well for individuals with light, untanned skin. Patients with darker pigmentation, which means higher amounts of melanin, may be at risk of burning, scarring, or hypo- or hyper-pigmentation and should seek alternative treatment options.
