Bio

Dr. Virginia Barton, board-certified dermatologist, offers expert medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology care for patients of all ages. Dr. Barton treats a variety of skin conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis, autoimmune connective tissue disease, skin cancer, and more. She also offers cosmetic treatments such as neurotoxin, dermal filler, chemical peels, and laser procedures.

Dr. Barton completed her dermatology residency at Tulane University. She has been featured in 14 medical publications and has served as an investigator in numerous clinical trials addressing skin conditions such as hidradenitis suppurativa, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis during her time as a clinical research fellow at the University of California Davis and the Medical University of South Carolina.

Throughout her medical education Dr. Barton was involved in many leadership roles. She served as a mentor while completing her residency for the National Dermatology Interest Group. She also served as Chief Resident of Cosmetics and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society during her Tulane University Dermatology Residency. Dr. Barton held the role of Vice President and President of the Medical University of South Carolina’s Dermatology Interest Group chapter during her time there.

Dr. Barton graduated from the University of Georgia in 2012 with her Bachelor of Science in Biology then earned her Doctor of Medicine in 2018 at the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her intern year in general surgery at Prisma Health in Greenville, South Carolina. Dr. Barton is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Contact Dermatitis Society, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the American Medical Association, and the Womens Dermatologic Society.

When Dr. Barton is not seeing patients, you can find her partaking in just about any outdoor activity including hiking, skiing, camping, and boating. She enjoys listening to live music and spending time with her Great Dane, Moose. Dr. Barton looks forward to providing expert dermatology care in Scarborough, York, and surrounding towns of Southern Maine. She is committed to delivering an unparalleled patient experience and providing the highest quality of care to all patients.
