Matthew Lipner, MD, PhD is a board-certified dermatologist offering expert medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology for patients of all ages. Dr. Lipner treats a variety of skin conditions including skin cancer, acne, eczema, psoriasis, and more.

Dr. Lipner completed his dermatology residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), and a transitional year residency program at Grand Strand Medical Center.

Dr. Lipner received his Doctor of Medicine from the UNC School of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He also earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmacology from the Lineberger Cancer Center at UNC. Throughout his training, Dr. Lipner held numerous leadership roles, including serving as Cosmetics Curriculum Chair during his dermatology residency program at UNC, and as Vice President and later President of the Program Student Council while earning his MD and PhD. His passion for mentorship was evident in his roles as a teaching assistant and tutor, where he guided peers and students.

In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Lipner has contributed to advancing dermatologic care through his research. He has authored nine medical publications and participated in multiple research projects and clinical trials focused on cancer biology and therapies, further cementing his expertise in the field.

When Dr. Lipner is not seeing patients, he spends his time with his wife, two daughters, and dog exploring the outdoors, trying his hand at recipes from around the world, and watching football.
